Telangana sports development push highlighted by Shabbir Ali

Hyderabad: Advisor to Telangana Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Saturday said the state was giving significant importance to Telangana sports development while inaugurating the Nizamabad Premier League in Nizamabad.

He launched the event by lighting the sports torch and received a ceremonial salute from athletes. The league, organised by the Nizamabad Security Council, is being held from April 20 to 28.

The competitions feature multiple events, including cricket, volleyball, kabaddi, basketball, and yoga. He said such platforms help identify and nurture talent from the grassroots level.

Shabbir Ali said the government was implementing programmes to support sportspersons up to the international stage. Moreover, he noted that league competitions promote sportsmanship among youth.

He added that sports improve fitness and also build discipline, unity, and leadership skills among participants.

He said the Chief Minister was focusing on setting up a sports university with international standards. This facility, he added, would offer scientific training and modern infrastructure to athletes.

The advisor said the government was allocating funds to strengthen sports infrastructure across districts. Plans include developing stadiums, coaching centres, and gymnasiums.

He added that the state aimed to secure the future of sportspersons. For this, it would provide financial incentives and employment opportunities.

Nizamabad Urban MLA Suryanarayana, Mayor Uma Rani, Police Commissioner Sai Chaitanya, and Dr Kavitha attended the event. Public representatives, sports bodies, youth, and athletes also participated in large numbers.

Shabbir Ali appreciated the organisers for conducting the league successfully. He also extended his best wishes to all participants.
