Rythu Varotsavalu focus on organic farming push

Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Monday said Rs 1.40 lakh crore had been credited to farmers’ accounts, while urging a stronger shift towards sustainable practices under the Rythu Varotsavalu organic farming campaign.

He made the announcement at the “Rythu Varotsavalu” programme held in Tandur of Vikarabad district. The event formed part of the 99-day Praja Palana–Pragathi Pranalika initiative. The minister said the celebrations would continue across the district until May 9.

He stated that financial support aimed to strengthen farmers economically. At the same time, he stressed the need for low-investment and high-yield cultivation methods. He warned that ignoring soil health could reduce land productivity in the future. Therefore, he called for adoption of natural and organic farming practices.
