New Delhi: NEET facilities at examination centres became the focus after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan wrote to all states and Union Territories ahead of the NEET (UG) re-examination scheduled on June 21, 2026.
In his letter to Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors and Administrators, the minister stressed the need to provide essential arrangements because of prevailing heatwave conditions.
He requested state authorities to issue instructions to district officials, schools, colleges and universities hosting the examination.
According to the minister, examination centres should provide safe drinking water, proper seating arrangements, functional fans or coolers, clean washrooms and shaded waiting areas for candidates.
He also called for uninterrupted electricity supply and portable toilets wherever necessary.
Dharmendra Pradhan said the well-being and interests of students remained the government’s top priority during the conduct of the examination.
Heatwave concerns prompt focus on NEET facilities
The Union Minister also urged states to ensure adequate transportation facilities for candidates appearing for the examination on June 21.
He said proper coordination among authorities would help conduct the re-examination in a transparent and successful manner.
Pradhan expressed confidence that all states and Union Territories would extend full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the national-level medical entrance test.
The NEET (UG) examination serves as the gateway for undergraduate medical admissions across the country.
The ministry’s latest communication came amid severe heatwave conditions affecting several parts of India.
