Hyderabad: Centre has approved the Telangana highway project worth ₹7,597.16 crore to upgrade key stretches of National Highways 63 and 563, strengthening road connectivity across northern Telangana.
The project will cover 190.76 kilometres across Nizamabad, Jagtial, Mancherial and Karimnagar districts. Officials said the upgraded corridors will ease congestion, improve freight movement and enhance regional connectivity.
Under the plan, developers will widen sections of NH-63 into four-lane corridors under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). They will also develop stretches of NH-563 through the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.
The project includes bypasses around major towns to improve traffic flow. Authorities expect the upgraded roads to support vehicle speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour.
Officials said the initiative will improve transport efficiency for both passenger and commercial traffic. In addition, it will support industries, businesses and agricultural supply chains across the region.
Telangana highway project to improve mobility
The Telangana highway project is expected to significantly reduce travel time in several districts.
Officials said commuters travelling between Armoor and Mancherial could save nearly 90 minutes after completion of the works. Likewise, travel time between Jagtial and Karimnagar could reduce by around 45 minutes.
The upgraded corridors will also facilitate faster freight movement. Consequently, businesses will benefit from lower transportation costs and improved logistics efficiency.
Furthermore, the project aligns with the PM GatiShakti framework, which promotes integrated infrastructure development and multimodal connectivity.
The highway network will connect five Economic Nodes, seven Social Nodes and 10 Logistic Nodes. Therefore, officials expect stronger regional integration and improved movement of goods and passengers.
The project will also reduce fuel consumption, lower carbon emissions and cut vehicle operating costs. As a result, authorities believe it will support long-term economic growth and accelerate infrastructure development in northern Telangana.
