Hyderabad: Information Technology and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu invited Malaysian companies to explore semiconductor investments in Telangana during a meeting with a delegation from Penang led by Deputy Chief Minister YB Jagdeep Singh Deo.
The discussions at the Secretariat focused on semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, artificial intelligence, innovation and workforce development. The Minister said Telangana was rapidly emerging as a major destination for advanced manufacturing projects in India.
He highlighted Hyderabad’s growing role in chip design, electronics manufacturing and emerging technologies. Moreover, he briefed the delegation on initiatives launched by the state government to attract global investors.
Sridhar Babu said Telangana offered opportunities in life sciences, biotechnology, clean energy, aerospace, defence and precision engineering. He added that international partnerships would help accelerate innovation and industrial growth.
Malaysia partnership could strengthen semiconductor investments
The Minister said Penang’s expertise in semiconductor assembly, testing and packaging could complement Telangana’s efforts to build a stronger semiconductor ecosystem.
Furthermore, he noted that collaboration with global industry players could help Telangana move higher in the semiconductor value chain and improve its competitiveness in advanced manufacturing.
Jagdeep Singh Deo expressed interest in expanding engagement with Telangana and exploring areas of mutual cooperation. Both sides agreed to work towards a roadmap covering semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, artificial intelligence, innovation and human capital development.
The meeting reflected Telangana’s strategy of attracting global investors and strengthening its position as a leading destination for technology-driven industries. Consequently, the state expects greater international cooperation to support long-term industrial growth.
