Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday directed officials to prepare a time-bound action plan for Palamuru irrigation projects and accelerate the completion of major schemes in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district.
Chairing a high-level review meeting, the minister instructed senior irrigation officials to implement decisions taken during the recent two-day inspection tour of Palamuru. He also asked them to adhere to deadlines fixed during Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s project visits.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said the government had entered a phase of accelerated execution. Therefore, officials must treat project timelines as non-negotiable. He directed departments to resolve issues related to land acquisition, rehabilitation, resettlement, power supply and contractor performance in mission mode.
The minister said the government remained committed to completing long-pending irrigation schemes that would benefit lakhs of farmers across the region. Furthermore, he instructed Chief Engineers to submit detailed completion schedules for every major component of each project.
He also asked District Collectors to expedite land acquisition through consensus and consent awards wherever possible. In addition, officials must ensure timely rehabilitation packages for displaced families.
