Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS deputy floor leader Harish Rao levelled several allegations against the Congress government. He accused it of corruption in education, excessive borrowing, wasteful expenditure and anti-public policies.
Speaking during an informal interaction at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao alleged that the government delayed school reopening due to irregularities in a ₹2,000 crore Education Department procurement process.
He claimed officials had not completed contracts for uniforms, bags, notebooks, belts and other materials. Therefore, the reopening schedule was postponed.
Harish Rao said the previous BRS government gave uniform stitching work to handloom workers. It also assigned shoe and belt production to LIDCAP to support Dalit families and local employment.
However, he alleged that the present government centralised the procurement process and awarded contracts to a Gujarat-based company.

He further claimed that nearly seven lakh Gurukul students had not received essential supplies, including uniforms, bags, belts and notebooks.
Harish Rao also alleged irregularities in egg procurement and criticised the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme.
Additionally, he claimed that payments to women self-help groups under Amma Odi committees were delayed. He also alleged that school sanitation workers had not received salaries for four months.
The BRS leader also targeted Congress affairs and claimed internal disputes led to the rejection of Telangana Congress in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination.
He further criticised the government over borrowings and alleged extravagant spending despite claims of financial difficulties.
Harish Rao alleged that a luxury guest house named Bodhi Pavilion was being constructed near the Chief Minister’s residence at a cost of around ₹100 crore. He also claimed the Chief Minister spent nearly ₹5 crore every month on helicopter travel.
