Shabbir Ali asks Congress workers to safeguard voter rights during SIR

Hyderabad: Telangana Government Advisor and senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir urged party workers to protect voter rights during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and ensure that every eligible voter remained on the electoral rolls.

Addressing a constituency-level training programme in Kamareddy, Shabbir Ali said the right to vote was the foundation of democracy. Therefore, he asked Congress workers to remain vigilant throughout the revision exercise.

The Congress party organised the programme at Classic Function Hall in Kamareddy town. During the event, leaders distributed specially printed booklets explaining the SIR process to party workers and booth-level agents.

Shabbir Ali urged workers to verify voter lists in every village and booth. In addition, he asked them to ensure that all eligible citizens continued to appear on the rolls.

He alleged that attempts were being made in some places to influence the electoral process. Consequently, he called on Congress workers to respond through democratic and lawful means.

The senior leader also urged workers to pay special attention to minorities, SCs, STs, BCs and other weaker sections. According to him, no eligible voter should lose the opportunity to participate in elections.

Shabbir Ali instructed Congress booth-level agents to work actively at the grassroots level. Moreover, he asked them to form local committees and identify eligible young voters whose names were missing from the electoral rolls.

He stressed that voter verification would play a crucial role in future elections. Therefore, he urged workers to contact every family in their respective areas and verify electoral details.

Recalling his political journey, Shabbir Ali said he had served the Congress party and the Gandhi family for 45 years. Despite challenges and pressures, he said he remained committed to the party’s ideology and democratic values.

He also said he had worked under four Chief Ministers and consistently focused on strengthening the organisation. Furthermore, he urged party workers to place democracy and the party above personal interests.
