Waqf Board record room restored after nine years

Hyderabad: Telangana Waqf Board Chairman Azmathullah Hussaini announced that the Waqf Board record room has returned to the Board after nearly nine years. He shared the update during a meeting with representatives of Muslim organisations in Hyderabad.

Hussaini said the Board now holds the keys to the record room. Earlier, the Revenue authorities controlled the facility for nearly nine years. He announced the development while meeting a delegation led by Tahreek Muslim Shabban president Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik.

Mallik welcomed the decision. He described the return of the Waqf Board record room as a major step towards transparency and accountability. He said Tahreek Muslim Shabban had consistently demanded that the Board regain control of the record room.

During the meeting, the delegation urged the Waqf Board to publish its annual income, expenditure and welfare spending. It also asked the Board to spend Waqf funds only on poor and deserving beneficiaries.

Mallik said Waqf properties exist to support the poor and the needy. Therefore, he urged the Board to protect every Waqf asset and use its income for welfare activities.

The delegation also requested the Board to improve facilities at Dargah Hazrat Yousufain. It sought toilets and a proper Wazu Khana for devotees.

Further, the members urged the Board to remove or relocate the garbage dumping yard near Dargah Jahangir Peeran. They said the dumping yard causes inconvenience to visitors.
