Hyderabad: Rajendranagar Zone Police conducted a Rajendranagar cyber awareness programme at the Telangana State Institute of Rural Development (TGIRD), educating 520 participants on cyber fraud prevention, safe digital practices and reporting online crimes.
Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Sreenivas led the session. SCERT State Resource Persons, Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) and agriculture sector professionals attended the programme.
The DCP explained several cyber threats. These included digital arrest scams, fake investment schemes, job frauds, phishing attacks and UPI payment scams. He urged participants to remain alert while using digital platforms. He also advised them to verify suspicious messages before sharing personal or financial information.
Furthermore, S. Sreenivas asked people to report cyber financial fraud immediately through the national helpline 1930 during the “Golden Hour.” He said prompt reporting improves the chances of recovering lost money and enables quicker police action.
Rajendranagar cyber awareness focuses on community outreach
The Rajendranagar cyber awareness programme also highlighted the importance of public participation in preventing cybercrime. The DCP appealed to attendees to become “Cyber Safety Ambassadors” and spread awareness in schools, colleges, government offices and rural communities.
In addition, he encouraged participants to educate family members and colleagues about safe online behaviour. He stressed that regular awareness can reduce cybercrime and help citizens identify fraud attempts before becoming victims.
Assistant Commissioner of Police T. Srinivas, Inspector M. Muthu Yadav and Sub-Inspector S. Mallesham of the Zonal Cyber Cell also attended the programme. They interacted with participants and explained practical measures to strengthen digital safety.
