New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan on August 2. The nationwide campaign will begin as a 100-week Jan Bhagidari movement against substance abuse. It aims to encourage youth to lead a people’s movement for a drug-free India.
MY Bharat will lead the campaign with support from young people across the country. The initiative aims to promote awareness, community participation and public engagement. It also seeks to strengthen the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047.
Nearly 10,000 locations across the country will hold pledge ceremonies on the launch day. More than one crore youth will take the Nasha Mukti Pledge at the same time. They will also commit to serving as Nasha Mukta Yuva Volunteers.
The campaign will bring together MY Bharat Volunteers, National Service Scheme volunteers, Youth Clubs, schools, colleges, universities, non-governmental organisations, industrial associations and more than 125 spiritual organisations.
Nasha Mukta Yuva campaign to continue for 100 weeks
The campaign will run every Sunday for the next 100 weeks. Youth groups will organise sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, street plays, art competitions and awareness drives. These activities will promote healthy lifestyles and highlight the dangers of substance abuse.
The government will honour volunteers and organisations that make outstanding contributions during the 50th, 75th and 100th weeks. The recognition aims to encourage continued public participation.
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya urged young people and social organisations to join the campaign. He appealed to them to support the Prime Minister’s call and help build a healthier and stronger India.
The campaign reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of turning the fight against drugs into a nationwide public movement. It also seeks to carry the message of a drug-free society to every village, town and city as India moves towards the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
