Bhubaneswar: Summer internship training at CTTC Bhubaneswar equipped 8,083 engineering students with industry-oriented skills in 2026. The Central Tool Room & Training Centre conducted the four-week programme during May and June. Students from 22 States and Union Territories joined the programme. The batch also included 26 international students from Sudan and Yemen.
The programme covered students from first year through final year of engineering. It focused on practical learning and technical skills needed in industry. As a result, students gained exposure beyond regular classroom education.
CTTC Bhubaneswar conducted training across Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil and Computer Science disciplines. It also included emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things and Additive Manufacturing.
Each course ran for four weeks and included intensive practical training. The programme aimed to connect academic learning with industrial practice. Therefore, it helped students understand how technical knowledge applies to real workplace needs.
Mechanical engineering recorded the highest participation with 3,193 students. Electronics followed with 2,209 students. IT and Software accounted for 1,948 students. Civil engineering had 388 students, while other emerging areas attracted 345 students.
The summer internship training covered 39 engineering and emerging technology domains. Artificial Intelligence recorded the highest participation with 1,748 students. PLC Programming followed with 1,000 students. AutoCAD attracted 991 students, while Python Programming had 413 participants. Data Analytics drew 392 students.
Summer internship training spans core and emerging fields
The programme also drew students from leading academic institutions. Participants came from Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology, deemed-to-be universities, engineering colleges and polytechnic institutes.
The wide participation showed demand for practical technical education across different engineering streams. Moreover, the programme combined core engineering skills with new technology areas.
CTTC Bhubaneswar operates under the Ministry of MSME. The centre supports the tooling and training needs of micro, small and medium enterprises. It works in tool design, manufacturing and technical training.
The centre provides services in auto parts, high-precision components and general engineering. Its manufacturing work includes press tools, moulds, dies, gauges, jigs and fixtures.
It also runs programmes in Tool and Die technology, Product Design and Mechatronics. Other areas include advanced machine maintenance, CAD/CAM/CAE, CNC machining and programming.
CTTC Bhubaneswar has also contributed to India’s space programmes. It manufactured and supplied 437 types of precision components for the Indian Space Research Organisation’s Chandrayaan-3 mission. The mission launched on July 14, 2023.
The centre also supplied precision components for the Aditya-L1 mission. These included regulators, flow control valves, gyroscopes, temperature sensors and navigation parts. ISRO launched the Indian solar mission on September 2, 2023.
In addition, CTTC Bhubaneswar has supported the aerospace and defence sectors. It has manufactured high-precision components for original equipment manufacturers. The work included components for the Light Combat Aircraft programme.
The 2026 programme therefore combined technical training with exposure to industry needs. It also gave engineering students opportunities to build skills in both established and emerging technologies.
