New Delhi: Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda launched Aarogya Setu 2.0 on Monday as India’s national digital health application. The platform offers citizens a single gateway to digital health services and personal health records.
The government developed Aarogya Setu during the COVID-19 pandemic for contact tracing and public awareness. Later, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology transferred the application to the National Health Authority. The Authority redesigned it to support the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
The government said Aarogya Setu 2.0 will serve as a trusted Personal Health Record for individuals and families. It will also promote wider adoption of ABDM services. Nearly 20 crore people have already downloaded the application. Therefore, officials expect it to accelerate digital health adoption across the country.
Aarogya Setu 2.0 expands digital health services
Users can create ABHA accounts, manage health records and register at hospitals through the Scan & Register feature. The application also uses artificial intelligence to digitise medical records and laboratory reports. It converts scanned documents into machine-readable data and creates personalised health dashboards.
Users can track heart rate, glucose, calories and daily steps. They can also sync wearable devices and receive medicine reminders. In addition, families can manage multiple health profiles through a single account.
The application displays PM-JAY Wallet details, CAPF policy information and private insurance data. It also helps users find nearby hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres. Furthermore, users can check blood availability through e-RaktKosh and locate PM-JAY empanelled hospitals for cashless treatment.
The “My Consent” feature lets users control how they share health information. They can approve, reject or review every request. As a result, the application protects user privacy and supports India’s digital health framework.
