New Delhi: BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition opened at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on September 11 with 37 Indian deep-tech ventures.
The Union Ministry of Education is organising the two-day event with the Ministry of External Affairs. The exposition will continue through September 12.
The event coincides with the 18th BRICS Summit under India’s BRICS Chairship. The summit will take place on September 12 and 13.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and BRICS leaders are expected to visit the exposition.
Senior Indian and international delegates will also attend the event. In addition, CEOs, investors and business leaders from BRICS member countries are expected on September 11 and 12.
The Ministry of Education said the BRICS Bharat Innovates platform aims to connect Indian innovation with global stakeholders. These stakeholders include companies, investors, universities, research institutes and governments.
The programme focuses on innovations emerging from India’s higher education ecosystem. It also connects startups, higher education institutions, laboratories and research parks with international partners.
The exposition brings together 37 deep-tech startups and ventures from an original cohort of 120. Those ventures took part in Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, France.
The event also reflects the theme of India’s BRICS Chairship. The theme is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.
Furthermore, the exposition runs alongside the BRICS Business Forum on September 11. This gives participating innovators access to business leaders, investors and CEOs from BRICS countries.
The platform will facilitate business-to-business meetings and technology partnerships. It will also create opportunities for investment talks, commercial links and international market access.
Organisers said the event supports the BRICS Education Track priority of strengthening research, innovation and start-up ecosystems.
Participating startups can meet BRICS investors and business leaders directly. They can also gain visibility among senior government officials and international delegates.
In addition, structured matchmaking is taking place with FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM. The organisers designed these meetings to help innovators build commercial and international partnerships.
BRICS Bharat Innovates builds on the Nice edition
The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition follows the first Bharat Innovates event in Nice from June 14 to 16, 2026.
That event took place during the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly inaugurated the three-day programme.
The Nice edition brought together 120 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures across 13 thematic areas. It also involved 15 institutions, including IITs, IISc, BIRAC and iDEX.
More than 2,000 participants from 29 countries attended the event. As a result, the programme generated more than 30 collaboration MoUs and partnerships.
Indian startups also received funding commitments worth US $254.5 million. These commitments followed 1,350 business-to-business meetings.
The current BRICS Bharat Innovates exposition builds on the Education Ministry’s BRICS engagements during India’s 2026 chairship.
For instance, the ministry hosted the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting in Bhubaneswar on August 7. The meeting adopted the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Declaration.
Earlier, the ministry hosted the 3rd BRICS Senior Officials’ Meeting on Education in Bhubaneswar on August 5.
The declaration outlined cooperation across five key areas. These areas include early childhood care and education, foundational literacy and numeracy, skill development and TVET.
The remaining areas focus on research, innovation and start-up ecosystems. They also cover mutual recognition of qualifications, academic leadership and institutional development.
Overall, the New Delhi exposition places Indian deep-tech ventures before investors, companies and institutions from BRICS countries.
At the same time, the event links India’s higher education and research ecosystem with wider international opportunities. It also strengthens the focus on innovation, partnerships and startup development under India’s BRICS Chairship.
