Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet approved a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in power purchases and thermal power projects, marking a key decision after reviewing an inquiry report.
The decision followed examination of findings submitted by a Commission of Inquiry. Initially headed by Justice L. Narasimha Reddy, the panel was later led by Justice Madan B. Lokur after the former recused himself. The commission submitted its report in October 2024, which the Cabinet reviewed along with the Advocate General’s opinion.
Ministers said the CBI probe approved was necessary due to interstate links and involvement of Central public sector entities. Therefore, the government decided to refer the matter for a detailed central investigation.
In addition, the Cabinet announced rationalisation of land market values across the state. Officials said revised rates would be implemented in the last week of this month, especially in areas where disparities exist between official and market prices.
CBI probe approved alongside key Cabinet decisions
Along with the CBI probe approved, the Cabinet cleared several policy measures. It allowed HILT applicants who applied before the revision to pay 10 per cent initially and settle the remaining amount within 90 days.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy also directed ministers to assess crop damage caused by unseasonal rains. He instructed officials to provide immediate relief to affected farmers.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved handing over operations of the Nalgonda-Ranga Reddy Milk Producers Cooperative Union to the National Dairy Development Board. The NDDB will manage processing, marketing and related activities.
The government also cleared solar power projects at 33/11 KV substations across nine districts. Officials plan to establish 19 MW capacity at 18 locations with an estimated investment of ₹66.50 crore.
Further, the Cabinet approved a one-time settlement for pending property tax dues. Authorities expect recovery of about ₹1,686 crore after waiving penalties and interest.
In another decision, the government approved construction of the Left Flood Flow Canal in Khammam district. The project aims to supply water to minor irrigation tanks.
Additionally, the Cabinet decided to integrate ITIs, polytechnics and T-SAT under the Young India Skill University framework. It also approved allocation of 42 acres in Aziz Nagar for a modern vegetable market.
