New Delhi: Election Commission of India has extended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) schedule in Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya.
The decision came at an ECI meeting held at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi on September 30. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. SS Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi attended the meeting.
The meeting began at 4.30 PM, according to the Election Commission. During the meeting, the commission approved revised timelines for both states.
The revised SIR dates provide additional time in Andhra Pradesh for the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections. The commission also fixed new final publication dates for both states.
SIR dates revised for final publication
In Andhra Pradesh, the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will continue from July 31 to October 10, 2026. The final electoral roll will be published on October 16, 2026.
For Meghalaya, the ECI has fixed October 26, 2026, for final publication of the revised electoral roll. The schedule issued by the commission does not specify a notice phase or claims and objections period for Meghalaya.
The Election Commission announced the changes on September 30 following its meeting in New Delhi. The revised schedule will now apply to the SIR exercise in the two states.
