New Delhi: Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved ₹5,547.99 crore for MSP procurement of pulses and oilseeds in 3 states. The procurement will cover 7.06 lakh metric tonnes of produce during the Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27.
The Price Support Scheme (PSS) will cover farmers in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. The move aims to protect growers from falling market prices and ensure remunerative returns for their produce.
Chouhan said farmer welfare, higher farm incomes and greater self-reliance remain key priorities under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He also said the government is working to make procurement more transparent and accessible to farmers.
Uttar Pradesh has received the largest allocation at ₹3,992.57 crore. The approved procurement includes 4,66,000 metric tonnes of tur worth ₹3,937.70 crore and 6,250 metric tonnes of moong worth ₹54.87 crore.
Karnataka has been sanctioned ₹1,107 crore under the scheme. The state will procure 1,15,500 metric tonnes of soybean worth ₹659.27 crore, 38,250 metric tonnes of moong worth ₹335.83 crore and 13,413 metric tonnes of sunflower worth ₹111.90 crore.
MSP procurement details for Telangana farmers
Telangana has received approval for procurement worth ₹448.42 crore. This includes 62,000 metric tonnes of soybean valued at ₹353.90 crore and 10,766 metric tonnes of moong valued at ₹94.52 crore.
The procurement will take place at MSP under the Price Support Scheme. The Centre said the move will provide greater economic security to farmers while supporting domestic production of pulses and oilseeds.
Chouhan said the decision will also support India’s efforts towards self-reliance in pulses and edible oils. He assured that procurement arrangements at all designated centres will remain transparent.
Farmers will receive payment for their produce directly into their bank accounts in a timely manner, according to the Agriculture Ministry.
