Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharsan Reddy on Monday directed district collectors to ensure faster electoral roll revision. He also told them to dispose of pending voter applications within the prescribed deadlines. He gave the directions during a video conference with district collectors on October 26.

In the meeting, the CEO reviewed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He also examined the progress of voter registration for the Graduates’ MLC elections and other election-related matters. Sudharsan Reddy asked officials to expedite the disposal of applications submitted under Forms 6, 7 and 8. He stressed the need to complete the process within the stipulated timelines.

Scrutiny of voters and rejection records

As part of the faster electoral roll revision, the CEO told officials to examine cases involving incorrectly mapped voters thoroughly. He asked district authorities to scrutinise voter details and verify eligibility before taking further action.

Moreover, officials must maintain proper records when they reject applications from ineligible voters. They must clearly document the reasons for rejection and attach relevant supporting evidence. The CEO emphasised careful scrutiny of voter information during the SIR exercise.

November 6 deadline for Graduates’ MLC voter registration

Meanwhile, Sudharsan Reddy directed officials to conduct voter registration for the Graduates’ MLC elections transparently. He instructed them to follow the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines strictly. He said November 6 is the final date for submitting voter registration applications.
