Hyderabad DCC reviews SIR preparations at Gandhi Bhavan

Hyderabad: Hyderabad DCC meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday reviewed preparations for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and Booth Level Agents’ training in the district.

Hyderabad district in-charge and MP Dr Mallu Ravi chaired the meeting. Hyderabad DCC president Syed Khalid Saifullah said district body members and division in-charges attended the review.

According to party leaders, 101 district body members and 44 division presidents participated in the meeting. They reviewed BLA training and discussed coordination at booth and division levels.

Leaders directed division presidents to work closely with Booth Level Agents during the SIR exercise. They also asked local teams to ensure that eligible voters were not excluded from the electoral rolls.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission launched the SIR exercise to prepare an error-free voter database. The process aims to include eligible voters and remove duplicate, deceased and ineligible entries.

As per the official schedule, the door-to-door survey in Hyderabad district will begin on June 25 and continue till July 24. During the exercise, Booth Level Officers will distribute forms, explain procedures and collect completed applications.

Hyderabad DCC meeting discusses voter safeguards

The draft electoral rolls will be published on July 31. Furthermore, authorities will accept claims and objections from July 31 to August 30. Verification and hearings will continue till September 28, while officials will release the final electoral rolls on October 1.

Voters can also submit enumeration forms online through the Election Commission portal. In addition, they may seek assistance from Booth Level Officers or the toll-free helpline 1950.

The Hyderabad DCC meeting also discussed concerns raised earlier by TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud regarding the SIR process.

Congress leaders demanded adequate time for objections and proper written notices before deletion of voter names. They also sought documented verification by Booth Level Officers to prevent hardship to genuine voters.

Syed Khalid Saifullah said the Hyderabad DCC would remain vigilant during the revision process. He added that division presidents and BLAs would work together to protect voting rights in the district.
