Hyderabad GCC destination attracts global firms, says Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad: Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said the Hyderabad GCC destination is emerging as a preferred base for global firms, citing strong investor interest.

He made the remarks after representatives of PICO Technology met him at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Saturday. During the meeting, the company expressed interest in setting up a Global Capability Centre in the city through its subsidiary.

Sridhar Babu said the Hyderabad GCC destination is gaining strength due to skilled talent and robust infrastructure. He also highlighted smooth connectivity, lower congestion, and affordable rentals as key advantages. These factors, he noted, are attracting global financial institutions.

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also attended the meeting. The minister outlined infrastructure facilities and investment opportunities available in the city.

Hyderabad GCC destination supported by long-term infrastructure plans

The government is implementing long-term infrastructure plans to meet future demand, he said. These plans are designed to address needs over the next five to 10 years. They also aim to support growth over the next two decades.

According to Sridhar Babu, Hyderabad’s talent pool continues to draw major companies. In addition, world-class infrastructure enhances its appeal. Improved road connectivity has reduced travel time across the city. At the same time, lower congestion and competitive rentals support expansion.

He said office space occupancy in Hyderabad stands at 73 per cent, compared to 52 per cent in Mumbai. These figures reflect rising commercial demand in the city. As a result, global firms are increasingly considering Hyderabad for expansion.

Sridhar Babu said congestion and pollution in cities such as Bengaluru and Mumbai are influencing corporate decisions. Consequently, several IT firms and GCCs are shifting to Hyderabad. This trend is further strengthening the Hyderabad GCC destination.

The meeting was attended by PICO Technology Founder and CEO Jarrod Yuster, PICO India CEO Hari Kothandaraman, director Sitaram and other representatives. Discussions focused on the proposed GCC and the ecosystem supporting such investments.
