New Delhi: India Post recorded its highest-ever first quarter India Post revenue of ₹4,009 crore in Q1 FY2026-27, registering a 22% year-on-year increase, Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said while reviewing the Department’s quarterly performance in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The Quarterly Business Review Meeting, held at Vigyan Bhawan, was chaired by Scindia in the presence of Minister of State for Communications Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani. Heads of Postal Circles from across the country attended the meeting to assess business performance and discuss the Department’s transformation roadmap.
Against the annual revenue target of ₹19,803 crore, the Department achieved ₹4,009 crore during the first quarter. The figure represented 81% of the quarterly target of ₹4,951 crore and reflected strong growth across multiple business segments.
Scindia congratulated postal employees for their contribution to improving service delivery, modernisation and customer-focused operations. He said the milestone reflected the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a future-ready and digitally empowered postal network.
Business verticals drive India Post revenue growth
Citizen Centric Services posted the highest growth at 86%, followed by Parcel services at 50%, Mails at 42%, International Relations and Global Business at 34%, Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance at 20%, and the Post Office Savings Bank at 10%.
Among Postal Circles, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal emerged as the top overall performers. Bihar led the Parcel segment, Andhra Pradesh topped the Mail category, West Bengal excelled in Citizen Centric Services and PLI/RPLI, while Chhattisgarh recorded the best performance in the Post Office Savings Bank segment. Kerala led the International Relations and Global Business category.
The Minister also reviewed operational efficiency and noted sharp declines in Branch Post Offices reporting nil business transactions. Compared with the same period last year, such offices fell by more than 92% in POSB, 97% in PLI/RPLI and 99% in Speed Post and Parcel services.
Scindia said the Department’s Expenditure Coverage Ratio also improved during the quarter. He directed Postal Circles to sustain revenue growth, strengthen customer outreach, expand strategic partnerships and improve monitoring to achieve the Department’s targets for FY2026-27.
Minister of State Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani said the improved performance reflected regular monitoring, stronger accountability and the commitment of postal employees. He urged all Postal Circles to maintain the momentum through disciplined execution and teamwork.
