Focus on metro expansion
A large share of Japan ODA to India will fund metro expansion projects in major cities.

Similarly, the Mumbai Metro Line 11 project will get JPY 92.400 billion. This project will ease traffic pressure and enhance connectivity across the city.
Overall, these initiatives will boost economic activity, improve the urban environment, and reduce pollution levels.
Strengthening healthcare systems
Japan ODA to India also supports healthcare development in Maharashtra.
The project will upgrade tertiary healthcare facilities and expand medical and nursing education. Moreover, it will establish new hospitals, colleges, and training institutions.
As a result, people will gain better access to quality healthcare. In the long run, this effort will support India’s goal of universal health coverage.
Boost for agriculture in Punjab
In addition, the assistance will support a horticulture project in Punjab.
This initiative will promote high-value crops and improve farmers’ incomes. Furthermore, it will strengthen supply chains and build capacity among farmers.
At the same time, the project will encourage sustainable practices and support long-term rural development.
Strengthening India-Japan partnership
Japan ODA to India highlights the strong economic partnership between India and Japan.
Notably, both countries have maintained development cooperation since 1958. Over the years, this partnership has continued to expand.
Therefore, this latest funding will further strengthen strategic ties while supporting India’s infrastructure and development goals.
