BJP demands compensation before Koheda fruit market work

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao demanded Koheda compensation for affected farmers before the government proceeds with the proposed International Integrated Fruit Market project.

Speaking at the BJP state office on Sunday, Rao alleged that the Congress government acquired land despite opposition from local farmers. He claimed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone without settling compensation claims.

Rao also alleged that police detained several protesting farmers during the Chief Minister’s visit. He claimed authorities released them after the programme ended.

The BJP leader said the government must clear all pending claims first. Only then should it continue work on the fruit market project. He argued that affected farmers deserve fair Koheda compensation before construction moves forward.

BJP raises Koheda compensation dispute

Rao accused the Congress government of ignoring farmers’ concerns. Moreover, he alleged that officials acquired land without paying compensation.

He also criticised recent remarks made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy against Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar. In addition, he alleged that the state delayed grain procurement and failed to address farmers’ problems.

Furthermore, Rao warned that BJP workers would intensify protests if the government ignored public concerns. He said the party would continue to support affected farmers.

Highlighting the Centre’s role, Rao said the Union government provided development and financial assistance worth nearly ₹13 lakh crore during the past 12 years. He also noted that the Centre approved ₹7,597 crore for two National Highway expansion projects.

According to him, the projects cover about 190 kilometres of four-lane roads. They will improve connectivity to Armoor, Jagtial, Mancherial and Karimnagar. Additionally, they will help link all 32 districts of Telangana through the National Highway network.
