Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao promised uninterrupted drinking water supply to every household in Hyderabad if the Bharat Rashtra Samithi returned to power in Telangana.
Addressing party workers in Kukatpally on Monday, KTR said the previous BRS government transformed Telangana from a power-deficit state into one with uninterrupted electricity.
He said the party would now focus on ensuring continuous drinking water supply across Hyderabad city.
KTR recalled that people faced severe electricity shortages and water scarcity before Telangana state formation. He said protests over power cuts and water shortages were common during Congress rule in the undivided state.
According to KTR, the K. Chandrashekar Rao government later implemented uninterrupted power supply and launched Mission Bhagiratha to provide piped water connections across Telangana.
He said the same commitment shown in the power sector would guide the new plan for Hyderabad.
Hyderabad plan focuses on drinking water supply
KTR said KCR would ensure round-the-clock water access for city residents after the BRS returned to power.
“The person who gave 24-hour power supply to Telangana is KCR, and the person who will provide 24-hour drinking water supply to Hyderabad is also KCR,” he said.
KTR also said he would personally monitor the programme’s implementation.
Meanwhile, he criticised the Congress government and accused it of failing to implement election promises related to pensions and financial support for women.
He alleged that Congress leaders were inaugurating projects completed during the previous BRS government and presenting them as new achievements.
KTR further claimed Congress policies damaged Hyderabad’s real estate sector and slowed construction activity. According to him, the slowdown affected thousands of labourers and construction workers.
He assured welfare measures and insurance schemes for workers under a future BRS government.
The BRS leader also announced that the party’s membership drive would take place in digital mode. He said the enrolment process and committee formation exercise would continue for nearly 60 days.
KTR later urged party cadres to stay alert during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and protect genuine voters’ rights.
