New Delhi: Union Law Minister Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal launched the e-VSP Portal of Vidhi Sahitya Prakashan on Tuesday. The portal marks a major step towards expanding digital access to Hindi legal literature across India and abroad.
The Legislative Department organised the launch event at Kartavya Bhawan-2 in New Delhi. Through the platform, lawyers, judicial officers, teachers, students, researchers and citizens can access Supreme Court and High Court judgments, legal journals, reference books and other Hindi legal publications from one place.
Addressing officials, Meghwal urged them to use simple and citizen-friendly Hindi in legal communication. He said people should easily understand the language of law. As a result, the legal system would become more accessible and inclusive. He also linked the initiative to the Prime Minister’s Digital India vision.
Moreover, the minister said legal literature reflects India’s constitutional values, cultural traditions and civilisational heritage. Therefore, he urged officials to preserve and promote these values through legal publications.
e-VSP Portal broadens access to Hindi legal publications
Legislative Department Secretary Dr. Rajiv Mani said the e-VSP Portal provides seamless digital access to Vidhi Sahitya Prakashan publications. Through the portal, users can download legal books, journals and reference materials from one platform. In addition, the service operates through the www.vsp.gov.in domain.
Additional Secretary Dr. Manoj Kumar said the portal would expand the reach of Hindi legal publications. He added that it would improve discoverability and connect with young readers. Furthermore, the initiative would strengthen Hindi as a language for legal education and professional discussion. According to him, the portal would also make legal publications easier to find, understand, obtain and use.
Meanwhile, Joint Secretary and Legislative Counsel Dr. Brijesh Singh highlighted the cooperation between the Official Languages Wing and Vidhi Sahitya Prakashan in preparing Hindi legal publications. Later, Joint Secretary and Legislative Counsel Sh. Ashvani presented the portal’s features with support from the National Informatics Centre technical team.
During the event, students from Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, and Hansraj College performed Saraswati Vandana and Bharat Natyam. Finally, senior officers of the Legislative Department and other distinguished guests attended the programme.
