Hyderabad: MA Faheem remarks accusing the BRS of insulting the Constitution and the Speaker intensified the political confrontation between the Congress and the opposition party.
Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, the TPCC vice-president and Food Corporation chairman said BRS leaders deliberately staged a political drama at BRS Bhavan. He alleged that the act disrespected constitutional institutions.
Faheem said the protest demeaned the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha opposition leaders, the Speaker, and the Chief Minister. According to him, the behaviour reflected contempt for the Constitution and democratic norms.
He questioned how the BRS could speak about moral values. Faheem recalled that leaders elected from other parties were later inducted into the BRS. He cited Talasani Srinivas Yadav as an example.
Faheem described Talasani as anti-Telangana. He alleged that the BRS not only inducted him from another party but also rewarded him with a ministerial post.
He also referred to earlier incidents during the previous regime. Faheem said the BRS remained silent when police broke doors and arrested Revanth Reddy and Kodandaram. He asked where moral values stood then.
Faheem accused the BRS of being anti-Dalit and betraying Dalit interests. He recalled promises of making a Dalit the Chief Minister. He alleged that the government even failed to provide three acres of land. He also referred to the Nerella incident.
MA Faheem remarks sharpen Congress attack on BRS leadership
Continuing his attack, Faheem said the Speaker belonged to the Dalit community and held a constitutional post. He alleged that the BRS insulted the Speaker through a planned drama, which he called unacceptable.
Faheem invited the BRS leadership for an open debate on moral values. He also alleged that the party once gave a position to a person caught in a fake currency case. He questioned the ethics behind that decision.
Targeting BRS working president KT Rama Rao, Faheem made sharp personal remarks. He alleged that Rama Rao had a habit of late-night outings and political theatrics during his tenure as a minister.
Faheem warned that a senior leader closely watching developments from abroad would soon return. He said that leader would put an end to what he described as political drama.
He added that the Congress would hold internal discussions. The party, he said, would decide its future course of action over the alleged insult to the Speaker.
