New Delhi: Over the last five years, the National Overseas Scholarship has supported 600 Scheduled Caste students pursuing higher studies abroad, including 133 women. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment shared these details in the Rajya Sabha through a written reply by Union Minister of State Shri Ramdas Athawale.
National Overseas Scholarship continues through 2025–26 with future cycle under review
The Minister stated that the scheme remains approved for the period from 2021–22 to 2025–26. He also noted that its extension for the next financial cycle is currently under review. The details highlight ongoing government support for students from the Scheduled Caste community seeking opportunities for academic advancement outside India.
According to the Ministry, the National Overseas Scholarship has enabled access to international education for a significant number of candidates over the review period.
