PM-VBRY employment scheme creating new job opportunities, says Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said the PM-VBRY employment scheme was emerging as a major initiative to generate jobs, support first-time workers and expand formal sector employment across the country.

Addressing a PM-VBRY programme at RTC Kala Bhavan in Hyderabad, he said India’s youth workforce would play a vital role in achieving the goal of a developed nation by 2047. He noted that more than 3.45 crore young people joined the formal workforce between 2020 and 2025.

Moreover, around 80 lakh youth enter the job market every year. Therefore, the Centre launched the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme with an outlay of Rs.99,446 crore to support more than 3.5 crore jobs over the next two years.

Kishan Reddy said the scheme strengthens workforce participation while encouraging employers to create additional formal jobs. He added that the initiative would improve worker welfare and strengthen ties between industries and employees.

PM-VBRY employment scheme supports first-time workers

Under the scheme, first-time employees can receive a one-time incentive of up to Rs.15,000. At the same time, employers receive financial support to expand formal employment opportunities.

Furthermore, the minister said the programme would accelerate workforce formalisation and provide greater security to workers entering organised sectors. He stressed that employment generation remained a key priority of the Union Government.

Kishan Reddy also highlighted labour reforms and skill development initiatives introduced by the Centre. According to him, these measures are helping Indian youth gain greater recognition in the global workforce.

He said the government remains committed to creating sustainable employment opportunities and equipping young people with skills required in emerging sectors. The PM-VBRY employment scheme, he added, would contribute significantly to India’s long-term economic growth and workforce development.
