Hyderabad: Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar ordered a comprehensive inquiry after an RTC bus accident on National Highway-44 near Rangapur in Wanaparthy district left more than 30 passengers injured on Monday morning.
The Minister directed officials to provide the best medical treatment to all injured passengers. He also spoke to the District Collector, Superintendent of Police and senior RTC officials to review the situation and determine the cause of the accident.
The TGSRTC Express bus, attached to the Wanaparthy depot, was travelling from Kurnool to Wanaparthy when it overturned. Around 50 passengers were travelling on the bus at the time of the accident.
Motorists and local residents quickly rushed to the spot and helped rescue the passengers. Rescue teams shifted the injured to the Pebberu Government Hospital for treatment. Doctors said most passengers suffered minor injuries and received first aid.
Minister seeks detailed report on RTC bus accident
Ponnam Prabhakar appreciated the prompt response of RTC staff, police personnel and ambulance teams during the rescue operation. He instructed officials to monitor the injured passengers and provide regular health updates. He also wished them a speedy recovery.
Furthermore, the Minister directed RTC authorities to strengthen safety measures to prevent similar accidents in the future. He sought a detailed report on the circumstances that led to the mishap.
Meanwhile, police registered a case and started an investigation into the accident. The overturned bus briefly disrupted traffic on NH-44. However, authorities later cleared the vehicle and restored normal traffic movement.
