Shankarpally crane accident victims visited by Vivek Venkatswamy

Hyderabad: State Labour and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Tuesday visited victims of the Shankarpally crane accident and reviewed their treatment after the fatal incident.

He visited the hospital along with MLA Kale Yadaiah and enquired about the condition of the injured workers. Moreover, he directed officials to submit a detailed report on the accident.

The incident occurred on Monday when a construction crane belonging to NCC Limited collapsed near Shankarpally. Strong winds caused the crane to fall onto a shed where workers had taken shelter from rain.

As a result, five migrant workers died on the spot. In addition, 12 others suffered fractures and serious injuries in the accident.

Several workers had gathered inside the shed to escape the rain when the crane collapsed. Consequently, the impact caused severe casualties among those present at the site.

The Minister said the government would extend all possible assistance to the families of the victims. He also assured support for the injured workers undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, authorities continued to assess the circumstances leading to the collapse. Officials are expected to submit findings after completing the inquiry.

The incident has raised concerns over safety measures at construction sites during adverse weather. However, further details are awaited as the probe continues.
