New Delhi: Shastriya Bridge in Indore will be rebuilt at an estimated cost of ₹139 crore after Indian Railways approved the project to improve urban mobility and strengthen rail-road connectivity.
The approval covers the reconstruction of Road Over Bridge No. 103-C in Indore Yard. The project forms part of Indian Railways’ programme to modernise road over bridges and related infrastructure.
Officials said the new bridge will feature a four-lane carriageway designed to handle growing traffic demand. In addition, the structure will include a 72-metre camel-back superstructure with PSC girders and a full viaduct arrangement.
The project also provides six-metre-wide service roads on both sides beneath the bridge. As a result, local traffic movement and maintenance access will improve significantly.
Indian Railways stated that the initiative aims to ease congestion, improve safety and provide smoother travel for commuters using the corridor.
The project includes utility relocation and infrastructure upgrades. Furthermore, authorities will construct new sewer lines and shift existing drainage systems to ensure uninterrupted services.

The project is expected to improve integration between railway infrastructure and urban transport networks. Consequently, commuters will benefit from safer and more efficient movement across the corridor.
Indian Railways said the investment reflects its continued focus on infrastructure modernisation, public convenience and transport safety across the country.
