Kanpur: A Tecnam P2006T twin-engine aircraft crashed near Ganga Barrage in Kanpur on 27 August 2026, according to preliminary information.
M/s Garg Aviation Ltd., Kanpur, operated the aircraft. It carried registration VT-NBV and flew about 5 NM from Kanpur Civil Airport.
The aircraft was conducting a training flight in the airport’s Local Flying Area. Two people were aboard, including a trainee pilot and an instructor.
Both occupants suffered fatal injuries in the Kanpur aircraft crash. Officials have not yet determined what caused the accident.
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation is sending three officials to the crash site. The team will provide regulatory oversight and coordinate the necessary response.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has also received information about the accident. It will conduct a detailed investigation under the applicable rules.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau will examine the circumstances of the Kanpur aircraft crash. It will also determine the cause of the accident.
At this stage, authorities have released only preliminary information. Therefore, investigators will establish the sequence of events through their detailed inquiry.
The DGCA team will support regulatory oversight at the site. In addition, officials will coordinate with the relevant agencies during the response.
The aircraft operated a local training flight near the Ganga Barrage. It had departed within the Local Flying Area of Kanpur Civil Airport.
