Hyderabad: More than 15,000 Telangana Congress leaders and cadres participated in the ‘Vote Bachao – Desh Bachao’ rally in Delhi. The party said its mobilisation demonstrated organisational strength and commitment to protecting voting rights. TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud led the participation with the support of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The Congress-led INDIA alliance organised the public meeting to highlight concerns over democracy and electoral transparency. The gathering was held under Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s guidance and the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Congress leaders sought public attention over the Election Commission’s functioning and alleged irregularities in electoral roll revisions.
Telangana Congress workers travelled to Delhi despite reported last-minute denial of permission for special trains. Instead, cadres used regular rail services, buses, cars, private vehicles and flights. More than 100 buses were deployed, alongside other transport arrangements, to mobilise participants from across the state.
The TPCC coordinated travel, accommodation, food and medical facilities for the visiting leaders and workers. The party arranged more than 800 rented hotel rooms and also accommodated participants at leaders’ residences in Delhi. It said these arrangements helped ensure that cadres faced no difficulties during their stay.
Telangana Congress extends rally participation across districts
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, ministers, MPs, MLCs and MLAs attended the programme. District Congress Committee presidents, PCC office-bearers, corporation chairpersons and leaders of affiliated organisations also participated. Party spokespersons and grassroots workers joined the gathering at Ramlila Maidan.
Congress supporters who could not travel to Delhi watched the rally at several locations across Telangana. The party said this extended the meeting’s reach to towns and villages throughout the state. It described the participation as a show of solidarity with its campaign to safeguard democracy and voting rights.
Telangana Congress leaders reiterated their support for Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing campaign to protect voting rights. They said the state would remain at the forefront of efforts to strengthen democratic institutions and ensure electoral transparency.
The party credited Revanth Reddy’s support, Mahesh Kumar Goud’s leadership and cadres’ coordination for the mobilisation. It said the participation had renewed enthusiasm among workers and demonstrated Telangana Congress’s commitment to the nationwide campaign.
