Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday directed officials to frame a GCC policy to encourage companies to expand beyond Hyderabad’s Core Urban Regional Economy zone.
During a review meeting on the Information Technology and Industries departments, the Chief Minister asked officials to promote Global Capability Centres along the Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal highway corridors. Minister D. Sridhar Babu and senior officials attended the meeting.
The government plans to decentralise employment generation and develop Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities as future economic centres. Therefore, officials were asked to identify new clusters beyond the CURE region for GCC and data centre projects.
Revanth Reddy also instructed departments to strengthen technology and digital infrastructure in underserved regions. In addition, officials reviewed plans to establish data centres in locations outside Hyderabad’s core growth areas.
GCC policy linked to Bharat Future City plans
The Chief Minister directed officials to follow net-zero principles and maintain global engineering standards in Bharat Future City projects. He also asked departments to prioritise trunk infrastructure development in the proposed zones.
Further, Revanth Reddy said the government would hold consultations with the Centre to secure one of the five regional medical hubs announced in the Union Budget. The proposed facility will come up in the Health City project under Bharat Future City.
Officials also reviewed plans related to the proposed AI City project after studying global infrastructure models. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister directed departments to speed up works connected to the industrial corridor and foundation stone programmes.
The meeting also discussed the formation of “Invest Telangana” as a dedicated investment promotion agency. Revanth Reddy asked officials to adopt best practices from other states and create a system that provides end-to-end support for investors.
He also suggested appointing escort officers to assist investors from their arrival in Hyderabad until project operations begin. In addition, the Chief Minister directed all government departments to shift to T-Fiber internet services within three months.
Officials informed the meeting that departments secured orders worth ₹54 crore during the last six months after moving from private internet operators to T-Fiber services.
