Hyderabad: Sanjay Kumar Srivastava General Manager of South Central Railway, on Monday reviewed train safety heatwave preparedness and directed officials to strengthen safety measures across South Central Railway during extreme summer conditions.
He held the meeting at Rail Nilayam with senior officials, including Satya Prakash and Divisional Railway Managers from six divisions. These divisions included Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded.
The review focused on maintaining safe train operations during heatwave conditions. The General Manager stressed strict monitoring and preparedness to avoid disruptions and risks.
Train safety heatwave preparedness focuses on track measures
Srivastava directed officials to prioritise track strengthening and ballast filling. He said strict adherence to summer safety protocols was essential for preventing rail fractures and accidents.
He instructed that track workers must receive protective gear. He also ordered provision of drinking water and ORS packets at worksites. These measures, he said, would safeguard staff working under high temperatures.
Further, he reviewed fire safety arrangements in trains. He asked officials to ensure readiness to handle fire-related risks during peak summer.

The General Manager also reviewed installation of CCTV cameras at key railway locations. He emphasised the need to improve monitoring to enhance passenger safety.
He directed officials to complete fencing at trespass-prone areas without delay. He said such steps would reduce accidents and improve operational safety.
Srivastava urged officials to expedite all safety initiatives. He also asked them to remain vigilant throughout the summer season to ensure uninterrupted and safe railway operations.
