VB-GRAM launch to begin from Andhra Pradesh on July 1

New Delhi: Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the national VB-GRAM launch will take place from Andhra Pradesh on July 1, 2026. He made the announcement during a meeting with Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in New Delhi.

The leaders reviewed rural development programmes, employment projects, livelihood initiatives and panchayat development. They also discussed plans for stronger implementation of central schemes.

Chouhan said Rural Development Ministers from all states and Union Territories would join the programme through video conferencing. They will participate from field locations in their respective states.

He said the programme would explain Gram Panchayat Development Plans. Andhra Pradesh will also showcase model panchayats and zero-waste villages.

Chouhan praised Andhra Pradesh for its rapid development and innovative approach. He said other states could learn from its successful rural development models.

Pawan Kalyan said authorities geo-tagged all works under rural development schemes. He added that officials had nearly completed the face recognition system for beneficiary verification.

Andhra Pradesh to showcase models during VB-GRAM launch

Pawan Kalyan said work on rural roads and PMAY-G houses was progressing rapidly. He also said every panchayat now offers drinking water facilities for livestock.

The Deputy Chief Minister thanked the Centre for providing more than Rs. 7,700 crore under the mission. He said the funds would accelerate rural development projects across the state.

Officials also included coffee plantation activities under the programme. The initiative will create new livelihood opportunities and diversify rural income sources.

The state government is promoting model panchayats in coastal areas. These efforts aim to support sustainable growth and strengthen local governance.

Chouhan invited Pawan Kalyan to attend the National Rural Development Conference in New Delhi on June 28 and 29. The conference will focus on implementation strategies, innovation and sharing successful experiences.

Rural Development Secretary Rohit Kansal assured support for coastal model panchayats. He also announced assistance for vehicle purchases by women Self-Help Groups under DAY-NRLM.

The initiative aims to strengthen livelihoods and increase women’s participation in the rural economy.
