New Delhi: The Ministry of Ayush has launched the Yoga Park Portal to transform public parks into community wellness hubs and promote yoga, meditation and preventive healthcare across the country.
Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav launched the portal during the 25-day countdown event for International Day of Yoga 2026 at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh. The Ministry unveiled the platform alongside the revamped Yoga Sangam Portal.
The initiative aims to convert existing parks into spaces that encourage regular yoga practice, healthy living and community participation. It also seeks to improve access to wellness facilities in both urban and rural areas.
Under the programme, Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies, Resident Welfare Associations, NGOs and corporate organisations can participate in developing Yoga Parks. The Ministry said these parks would support physical and mental well-being while strengthening preventive healthcare.
The initiative promotes a collaborative approach. Therefore, local authorities and community organisations will help identify and maintain suitable parks. At the same time, yoga institutions can organise awareness campaigns and regular sessions.
Yoga Park Portal supports wellness and public participation
The Ministry said the parks can include yoga platforms, meditation zones, green landscapes and open spaces for group activities. As a result, people of different age groups will have easier access to wellness facilities.
The initiative also encourages Corporate Social Responsibility participation. Companies can contribute to the development of Yoga Parks and support community health programmes. Moreover, the Ministry said such investments could create a lasting public health legacy.
The portal provides guidelines, registration facilities and resources for stakeholders. Consequently, government agencies, local bodies, community groups and private organisations can work through a common platform.
The initiative aligns with the International Day of Yoga 2026 theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” It aims to encourage regular physical activity, mindfulness and social interaction among children, youth, working professionals and senior citizens.
The Ministry said the project goes beyond annual yoga celebrations. Instead, it seeks to create permanent wellness spaces that communities can use throughout the year. Officials believe the initiative will strengthen preventive healthcare and promote healthier lifestyles across India.
