PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud rules out Cabinet berth

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Sunday ruled out joining the state Cabinet and said the party high command would take the final call, reiterating his PCC chief Cabinet remarks.

Speaking to reporters at the Congress protest titled ‘Vote Chori… Gaddi Chhodo’ at Ramlila Maidan, Goud said discussions were underway on Cabinet restructuring. However, he stressed that the leadership alone would decide the outcome. He said the PCC president’s post carried greater political weight than a ministerial position.

Goud said he had already conveyed his stand to the party leadership. He recalled that AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal had earlier suggested that he enter the Cabinet after Congress formed the government. However, he told the leadership that he preferred organisational work.

He also released a statement welcoming the performance of Congress-backed candidates in the ongoing panchayat elections. He said the results reflected growing public confidence in the party.

Praising Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he said the CM was working with determination to develop the state. He added that Revanth Reddy had a clear vision. According to him, the Congress government was developing Hyderabad to global standards.

Goud said the party would fill all pending posts within a month. He added that recent controversies involving ministers Konda Surekha and Ponnam Prabhakar had subsided. He said the high command remained satisfied with the developments.
