Hyderabad: Tribute to SP Balasubrahmanyam was paid on Monday as Telangana Industries and IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu unveiled a bronze statue of the legendary singer at Ravindra Bharathi.
The minister, joined by former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, described SP Balasubrahmanyam as an eternal voice in Indian cinema whose legacy transcended generations and languages. He said the late singer remained a timeless icon in the world of music.
Sridhar Babu said SP Balasubrahmanyam sang more than 40,000 songs in 14 Indian languages. Therefore, he said, SPB proved that music knew no linguistic or regional boundaries.
He praised the singer as a maestro who ruled the world of melody and emotion. Moreover, he said SPB’s voice continued to stir Telugu hearts as if it had been recorded only yesterday.
Tribute to SP Balasubrahmanyam highlights lasting legacy
The minister said SP Balasubrahmanyam’s contributions went far beyond playback singing. In addition, he described the late artist as a gifted actor, composer and dubbing artist.
Sridhar Babu said only SPB could sing with such perfection that audiences felt the actor on screen was singing in real life. As a result, he said, SPB set unmatched standards in Indian cinema.
He said the bronze statue symbolised musical excellence, humility and discipline. Meanwhile, he reaffirmed the Telangana government’s commitment to supporting art, culture and artists.
The event was attended by former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, SPB’s son SP Charan, veteran actor Subhalekha Sudhakar and several prominent figures from the cultural and entertainment sectors.
