Union Sports Minister inaugurates High Performance Centre project at SAI Bengaluru

New Delhi: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya virtually inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for a High Performance Centre at the Sports Authority of India’s Netaji Subhas Southern Centre in Bengaluru.

The High Performance Centre project involves a total investment of ₹75 crore. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will contribute ₹60 crore through its CSR initiative. Officials said the facility would strengthen India’s elite athlete preparation ecosystem by bringing world-class sports science services under one roof.

The proposed centre will house advanced facilities for sports medicine, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation and recovery. It will also include biomechanics, physiology, psychology, nutrition, performance analysis and hydrotherapy units. These facilities aim to enable scientific and data-driven training for elite athletes.

Addressing the event, Dr Mandaviya said the High Performance Centre reflected India’s shift from participation to podium performance. He said reforms in sports governance were helping athletes compete at the highest international level.

The Minister added that science-backed training and recovery systems would play a crucial role in improving performance outcomes. He also praised HAL for supporting the project and said public sector participation strengthened nation-building through sports.
