Hyderabad: BRS MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy on Friday rejected allegations of land encroachment near Durgam Cheruvu. He said he neither owns property in the tank area nor occupied any government land.
Calling the charges baseless and malicious, Prabhakar Reddy challenged the State government and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority to produce evidence. He said he was ready to face legal action if authorities proved any encroachment.
Prabhakar Reddy encroachment claims linked to TDR compensation
Explaining the background, the MLA said he had purchased the land through a public auction. Later, the authorities cancelled the sale. In return, they issued Transferable Development Rights as compensation.
Prabhakar Reddy clarified that the police case related only to a private parking dispute. He stressed that it had no connection with any public land or lake encroachment.
“There is no government land at the site,” he said, adding that HMDA filed the complaint without any private individual approaching the authorities. He also noted that actor Balakrishna and Haribabu of Lahari Estate owned land in the same locality.
The MLA said he would cooperate fully with the investigation and appear before the police. However, he warned that failure to withdraw the case unconditionally would trigger protests.
He said he and his supporters would stage demonstrations in front of houses constructed within the Full Tank Level zone. Concluding his remarks, Prabhakar Reddy said he would fight the case strictly through legal means.
