Singareni hospital vacancies to be filled by March 2026, Bhatti Vikramarka announces

Hyderabad: The Telangana government decided to fill all Singareni hospital vacancies by March 2026, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced in the Assembly on Tuesday.

Replying to questions during a discussion on Singareni, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government was giving top priority to the health of Singareni workers and their families. He said 11 contract doctors were currently working in Singareni regional hospitals. Meanwhile, the government has already issued a notification to recruit 32 doctors. He said officials would complete the recruitment shortly.

The Deputy Chief Minister also said the government had begun the internal recruitment process for 176 paramedical staff. Therefore, the administration aimed to address long-pending Singareni hospital vacancies and improve healthcare delivery in mining regions. He stressed that accessible medical care remained a core responsibility of the state.

He added that Singareni hospitals were strengthening services to meet rising demand. According to him, better staffing would reduce referrals and improve emergency response in coal belt areas.

Singareni hospital vacancies and new healthcare facilities

Bhatti Vikramarka informed the House that the government was setting up a Cath Lab at Ramagundam under the Public-Private Partnership model. Officials have already awarded the contract. As a result, authorities will inaugurate the Cath Lab within the next 75 days.

He said Singareni hospitals were supplying medicines to retired employees under the CPRMS scheme. Under this facility, retirees can avail medicines worth up to ₹8 lakh. In addition, the government continues to extend terminal benefits to retired workers.

On housing, he said the boards would discuss the allocation of vacant Singareni land for house construction by retired employees. He assured the House that the government would take a decision after consultations.

Highlighting Singareni’s role, Bhatti Vikramarka said it was the largest public sector undertaking in Telangana and provided employment to thousands of youth. Hence, protecting the institution remained a shared responsibility of workers, public representatives, and society.

He cautioned that globalization and privatization posed serious challenges to Singareni’s future. He said the Centre’s policies led to coal block auctions instead of direct allocations. Consequently, private agencies entered the sector. In the past, Singareni lost some coal blocks due to non-participation in auctions. However, after the Congress government assumed office, Singareni participated directly and secured certain blocks.

He also noted that private companies supplied coal at lower prices than Singareni. Naturally, consumers preferred cheaper coal. As a result, Singareni’s coal sales faced pressure.

To address these challenges, he announced that the government would convene a high-level meeting within ten days after the Assembly session. Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs from the Singareni region, along with the CMD and directors, will attend the meeting.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, Bhatti Vikramarka said the Indiramma Rajyam government was ensuring worker safety through a ₹1 crore accident insurance cover. Banks operate the scheme without placing any financial burden on either the state government or Singareni. He also announced that the government would extend the same insurance cover to employees working in power sector DISCOMs.
