New Delhi: The Ministry of Women and Child Development launched the PANKHUDI portal on Wednesday to strengthen digital partnerships and improve coordination for women and child welfare programmes across India.
Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi launched the PANKHUDI portal on January 8 in the presence of Minister of State Savitri Thakur and Ministry Secretary Anil Malik. The ministry said the platform aimed to improve transparency, coordination, and structured participation in development initiatives.
The government said the PANKHUDI portal reflected Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that technology should act as a bridge between citizens and the government. It added that people’s participation, or Jan Bhagidari, remained central to effective nation-building.
The ministry said the PANKHUDI portal functioned as a single-window digital platform. It brought together individuals, Non-Resident Indians, Non-Governmental Organisations, CSR contributors, corporate entities, and government agencies working in women and child development.
The portal unified voluntary and institutional contributions across key areas such as nutrition, health, Early Childhood Care and Education, child protection, rehabilitation, and women’s safety. As a result, it aimed to improve convergence and coordination among stakeholders.
PANKHUDI portal strengthens CSR and flagship missions
The ministry said the PANKHUDI portal supported flagship schemes including Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya, and Mission Shakti. Contributors could register on the portal, identify initiatives, submit proposals, and track approvals through defined workflows.
The portal also improved monitoring and accountability through a transparent digital framework. Therefore, it facilitated collaboration among central and state departments, implementing agencies, civil society groups, and private stakeholders.
To ensure financial transparency, the ministry said the portal accepted contributions only through non-cash modes. It added that this step strengthened traceability and accountability of funds.
Officials said the PANKHUDI portal would enhance ease of doing CSR and partnerships with the government. Moreover, it would support services delivered through more than 14 lakh Anganwadi centres, around 5,000 child care institutions, nearly 800 One Stop Centres, over 500 Shakhi Niwas, and more than 400 Shakti Sadan.
The ministry said the initiative marked a significant step towards inclusive and outcome-oriented development. It added that improved infrastructure and services would ultimately enhance the ease of living for crores of citizens.
