New Delhi: The Cotton Corporation of India Ltd. (CCI) handed over a dividend cheque of ₹8.89 crore for the financial year 2024–25 to Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh at a function held in New Delhi on Tuesday.
CCI Chairman and Managing Director Lalit Kumar Gupta presented the cheque in the presence of Secretary (Textiles) Neelam Shami Rao and Joint Secretary Padmini Singla. The dividend followed one of the strongest financial performances in the corporation’s history.
The textiles minister appreciated CCI’s performance and stressed the need to focus on growth, efficiency, transparency and innovation. He said CCI played a crucial role in ensuring remunerative prices to cotton farmers through minimum support price operations while also maintaining balance in the domestic cotton market.
During FY 2024–25, CCI achieved a turnover of ₹20,009 crore, marking one of the highest turnovers since its inception. Officials said the CCI dividend reflected strong financial discipline, efficient operations and sustained contribution to the government while protecting farmer interests.
CCI dividend reflects strong MSP outreach and digital push
Secretary (Textiles) Neelam Shami Rao commended CCI’s management and staff for their performance. She reaffirmed the ministry’s support to strengthen India’s cotton value chain and improve global competitiveness. She also highlighted CCI’s key role in scaling certified cotton production across the country.
According to officials, nearly 97% of certified Kasturi Cotton Bharat was produced by CCI during the year. This accounted for 1.51 lakh bales out of a total 1.58 lakh bales. The initiative strengthened quality assurance, traceability and India’s footprint in premium global cotton markets.
To expand MSP outreach, CCI increased its procurement network to 571 centres across 150 cotton-growing districts. This marked a rise from 508 centres in the previous season. Liberalised norms helped improve access for small and marginal farmers while cutting transport costs and waiting time.
Farmer engagement also improved through the Kapas Kisan Mobile App. Over 46 lakh farmers registered on the platform, which enabled paperless procurement, self-registration, slot booking and Aadhaar-linked payments. Officials said real-time SMS alerts improved transparency at every stage.
CCI also achieved 100% traceability of cotton bales through its blockchain-based Bale Identification and Traceability System. In addition, its CotBiz platform strengthened ease of doing business through faceless e-auctions, digital contracts and ERP-linked billing systems.
