Hyderabad: Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Saturday alleged a political vendetta against KCR, accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of targeting the former Chief Minister through police action.
Speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad, Sohail said police officials deliberately humiliated K Chandrashekar Rao while serving notices in an ongoing case. According to him, despite KCR sharing his correct residential address, officials went to a different location late at night and pasted the notice on a gate where he was not present.
He argued that the manner of serving the notice revealed clear political intent. Therefore, Sohail claimed the action was not procedural but a calculated move to discredit the Leader of the Opposition. As a result, he said, the episode reflected a continuing political vendetta against KCR.
Calling the incident a violation of democratic norms, Sohail said it weakened public faith in institutions. Moreover, he recalled that KCR had led the Telangana statehood movement and continued to command public respect across the state.
BRS cites legal norms in political vendetta against KCR charge
Referring to legal provisions, Sohail said authorities must question senior citizens above 65 years at their residence. In this context, he pointed out that KCR was 70 years old. Hence, he accused officials of ignoring established norms either through negligence or intent.
He further alleged that the Congress government was using intimidation to suppress opposition voices. Consequently, such actions, he said, exposed political insecurity and misuse of the police machinery.
Despite the allegations, Sohail said the BRS trusted the judiciary and the Constitution. Accordingly, he added that the party would challenge and expose what it described as baseless cases filed against opposition leaders.
Warning of wider implications, Sohail said the issue went beyond one individual. “Today it is KCR garu. Tomorrow it could be anyone who questions the government,” he said, adding that the people of Telangana were watching developments closely.
