Hyderabad: Former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth opened up about his journey of faith, resilience and inner joy in the Sreesanth Rooted For Life podcast, sharing deeply personal stories beyond cricket.
In a heartfelt conversation with Dr. Pradeep Sethi, co-founder of Eugenix Hair Sciences, Sreesanth reflected on childhood challenges, spiritual beliefs and life lessons that shaped his career. The discussion moved beyond sporting achievements and explored his emotional and philosophical foundations.
At the beginning of the episode, Sreesanth stressed the importance of respecting everyone regardless of religion or caste. According to him, a strong emotional base helps individuals remain stable through life’s highs and lows. Therefore, humility and self-respect must coexist, while equality forms the foundation of greatness.
One of the most powerful moments of the podcast revolved around his childhood medical struggle. For the first time, he spoke about a life-changing tumour surgery and his father’s unwavering faith. He recalled offering a symbolic one-rupee donation and prayers at Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple, which he described as a turning point in his life.

The former fast bowler also spoke about his spiritual connection with Lord Shiva and revealed a birthmark resembling a Trishul on his arm. He described it as a sign that strengthened his belief system. Moreover, he credited his father for teaching him to respect drivers, security staff and every individual equally.
During the conversation, Sreesanth differentiated between happiness and joy. He said happiness often depends on outcomes, whereas joy remains internal and independent of success. Consequently, he encouraged living fearlessly and viewing every experience as “Tajurba” or learning.
He also revealed what he called the secret behind India’s 2007 T20 World Cup triumph. Years before lifting the trophy, he had visualised that moment with conviction. Additionally, he reflected on his iconic World Cup catch and its lasting impact on his career.
Sreesanth explained his philosophy of PRIDE, which stands for Personal Responsibility in Delivering Excellence. He emphasised accountability, discipline and routine as keys to long-term success. Furthermore, he spoke about handling setbacks, including being dropped from the team, through self-talk and perseverance.
The episode concluded with reflections on family values, lessons from his grandmother and the importance of yoga in maintaining balance. The complete podcast is available on the Eugenix Hair Sciences YouTube channel.
