Education system in turmoil, alleges Dasoju Sravan

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan alleged that the education system in turmoil in Telangana resulted from administrative lapses and financial irregularities under the present government.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, he accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of heading what he termed an exploitative regime. Therefore, he demanded immediate corrective measures to restore academic standards.

Sravan raised concerns over examination management at Osmania University. He alleged that authorities issued the same question paper for the five-year Law course exam on February 25 and the three-year Law (Honours) exam on February 27. Consequently, he termed it a dark day in the university’s history and sought accountability.

He questioned how officials reused an identical paper for two separate courses. Moreover, he described the episode as gross negligence that undermined student confidence.

Education system in turmoil over exams and funds

In addition, the BRS leader alleged irregularities in the procurement of bunker beds for Residential Gurukul Schools. According to him, the market value stood at ₹60 crore, but the government purchased them for ₹160 crore. As a result, he claimed the exchequer suffered a loss of ₹100 crore.

Furthermore, he demanded transparency in the tender process and sought details of contracts awarded to firms reportedly blacklisted elsewhere. Meanwhile, he criticised certain Education Commission recommendations, arguing that proposals to abolish Residential Schools and Fee Reimbursement schemes would hurt underprivileged students.

Sravan also said the government had pending fee reimbursement dues of ₹10,000 crore. Additionally, he accused it of sidelining the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Overseas Scholarship scheme introduced during the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.

He demanded an audit of funds allocated to Osmania University in recent years. Finally, he alleged that demolition drives in Khammam district displaced poor families without prior notice and reflected administrative insensitivity.
