Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy proposed a sports university proposal to build a world-class training ecosystem in Telangana for Olympic preparation.
He raised the proposal during a Sports Department review meeting at his Jubilee Hills residence on Monday.
Ministers Vakiti Srihari and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy attended the meeting. Chief Minister’s Adviser Vem Narender Reddy, SAT Chairman Shivsena Reddy and Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao were also present.
Senior officials briefed the Chief Minister on the development of facilities at the Young India Sports University.
The discussion focused on creating infrastructure that meets international standards. Officials also explored facilities for multiple sporting disciplines.
Revanth Reddy said a dedicated university must focus on Olympic training. Therefore, he suggested strengthening infrastructure at the Gachibowli outdoor stadium.
Officials also discussed constructing an indoor stadium, a university complex, hostel accommodation and additional sports grounds within the same campus.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister examined several architectural designs for the proposed facilities.
He suggested improvements so that the infrastructure meets international sporting standards. In addition, he stressed the need for long-term planning.
Revanth Reddy said Telangana should aim to host global sporting events in the future.
Therefore, he asked officials to prepare strategies for hosting major events such as the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games.
The Chief Minister also directed departments to modernise existing sports venues across the state.
He specifically asked officials to upgrade Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Stadium, LB Stadium and Saroor Nagar Stadium.
Officials said these upgrades will strengthen Telangana’s sports ecosystem and help athletes prepare for international competitions.
