PM-KISAN disburses ₹4.09 lakh crore to farmers

New Delhi: The Union government has completed a major PM-KISAN disbursement milestone, transferring over ₹4.09 lakh crore to farmers across the country since the scheme began in 2019. The financial support reached beneficiaries through 21 installments under the central scheme.

The government launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi in February 2019 to support farmers with cultivable land holdings. Under the programme, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 every year in three equal installments.

The amount is transferred directly to Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer system. Therefore, the scheme avoids intermediaries and ensures direct financial assistance to farmers.

Officials said the government built a farmer-centric digital infrastructure to ensure transparent beneficiary registration and verification. As a result, the system helps deliver benefits to farmers across the country.

PM-KISAN disbursement expanded through digital registration system

The government has introduced multiple registration options to make the scheme more accessible. Farmers can register through mobile applications, web portals, or by visiting support centres.

In addition, authorities introduced the Farmer ID requirement for new registrations in 19 states where the farmer registry process has begun. However, farmers in other states can still register without the ID.

Officials also acknowledged that some farmers face difficulties due to name mismatches in official documents. Therefore, the government created a grievance mechanism that allows farmers to raise issues related to land records or identity details.

Farmers who do not own mobile phones can still access the scheme’s services. They can visit Common Service Centres or government offices at block and tehsil levels for assistance.
