Ring roads planned for major district headquarters: Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare plans for ring roads around major district headquarters to ease congestion and strengthen connectivity with Hyderabad.

He issued the direction during a review meeting of the Roads and Buildings and Transport Departments.

R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar attended the meeting along with senior officials.

The Chief Minister said ring roads will help reduce traffic pressure in district headquarters. They will also improve road connectivity with the state capital.

Officials briefed the Chief Minister about ongoing infrastructure works during the review.

He also asked departments to accelerate construction of teaching hospitals across the state.

The Chief Minister directed officials to speed up works on major hospital projects in different districts.

Authorities also received instructions to fast-track Road Over Bridges and Road Under Bridges at key locations.

Ring roads project reviewed with transport and infrastructure plans

During the meeting, Revanth Reddy asked officials to study new road links to strengthen connectivity.

These include a proposed greenfield road connecting Nagarjuna Sagar with the Hyderabad–Vijayawada Expressway.

The Chief Minister also directed that government departments should purchase only electric vehicles in the future.

Officials said the Transport Department will introduce a comprehensive online system to improve public services.

The government will also construct permanent buildings for Regional Transport Offices across the state.

In addition, authorities will promote road safety awareness through short films and public campaigns.

Officials will also prepare plans for a modern bus terminal near the proposed high-speed rail corridor at Shamshabad.

Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Srinivasa Raju, R&B Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Transport Commissioner Ilambarthi and R&B Engineer-in-Chief Mohan Nayak attended the meeting.
